The school is one of the most important organizations in our world and one building that bears some of our warm memories. It also has a huge impact in our lives, in our individualities and our notions and perceptions of the world. That’s why we must make school maintenance and repair a regular activity.
We must collaborate to make the school a productive place of learning and that means the roofs are not dripping, the paint are not peeling off the ceilings and walls, the drains are not clogged up, the gym roof is not leaking, the showers have hot water when you want it, and everything is going smoothly. To put it plainly, quality education is right away connected with the condition of the facilities and building. Do you expect students to gain knowledge effectively when the walls appear like a mosaic and the rooms are in very poor shape? Do you expect students to study scientific principles and theories when the laboratories are not fully equipped and may not be even safe for experiments? These kinds of educational environments will yield substandard education.
That’s why the government must work closely with school officials to make school repair and maintenance a priority in legislative and budget discussions. There should be a budget for this undertaking. However, it is a sad fact that many state executives and national government agencies are not so keen in forming this investment into our future. We need to hit the road pronto if we would like to yield reliable and good citizens in the future. And that begins by standing up to the challenges of our school system and to the quality of education we are compelled to deal with. Let us not forget that the students now will be the next generation of directors, professionals, and personnel. It is our responsibility to provide them quality education today. Besides, it is the government’s job to guarantee that there is adequate financial support for repair and restoration. It is about time that we make ourselves be understood and make sure our children are given the best in education.
Not only are our schools suffering from deterioration but so are other structures and buildings in our nation today. Historical buildings, houses and other establishments are also in bad state and severely need a number of repairs. Church repair and restoration is different from doing repairs for school buildings. Churches are not only holy places but also accommodate some of the most precious pieces of art. An example of such repair was the restoration of the Sistine Chapel, and you can really spot the difference before and after the cleaning of the ceilings and the frescos. It is our responsibility now to preserve the past and guarantee that the future is positive for our kids.
