Getting familiar with Integration
Integration is part of the Calculus class in mathematics. It is the study of different integration methods and integrals. Integration, as a math operation, is the operation by which an integral is calculated. When you study Calculus, you are going to study a lot about integration as well as many other areas of Calculus such as Differentiation, Power Series, Limits, Polar Coordinates, and Vectors. Depending on what level of mathematics you are learning, there are different methods that you can use to do your integration. Some integration problems are more complex than others and they need you to use more complex methods of integration to solve them. If you are doing integration at school, then the problems are likely to be much more simple and only require easy methods of integration to solve them.
Integration Methods
A simple method to use to integrate is one called integration by parts. This technique lets you to integrate functions that is a product of other functions that are differentiable. If they are not differentiable, then it will be rather hard to do integration by parts on them and you will need to come up with another way to solve the problem. There are formulae that you can rely on when solving problems by integration by parts.
There are other ways to do integration including using trigonometric integrands and trigonometric substitutions and using partial fractions. These methods are much harder than integration by parts so you are not likely to learn about them until you are enrolling in high level Calculus classes. You may learn about what partial fractions are early on but you will not their applications in solving integration problems until advance classes. Trigonometric substitutions are ways of using trigonometric functions such as sine and cosine to make the integration problem simpler to solve.
